This has been a busy month. It seems like every day there has been some sort of activity to do. The past two Fridays we have gone to the University of Alabama Gymnastics meets. It was a new experience for all and we had a GREAT time. The first week (Fri, Feb 12) we went as a family and even Jon and Jay enjoyed the experience. Those girls are just amazing. The ease in how they jump on the balance beam makes it look so simple.
Last Friday (Fri, Feb 19) it was a girl's night out. Elisa and I went with our neighbors, Sandi and Alexandra. It was another great night. The Gymnastics Team was sponsoring a Power in Pink night in support of breast cancer awareness. It was a sold out crowd with over 15,000 in attendance wearing pink. The girls were able to get a few pictures with the gymnasts after the meet. Alabama won both nights against Florida and Arizona.
Saturday, February 13, was Alexandra's birthday so as a gift Elisa made her a cake. It was a yummy cake and it looked great. It had a layer of chocolate ice cream and a layer of vanilla cake.
Jay started his official soccer career on Thursday, February 18 against Northridge High School. Even though, Jay is an 8th grader he plays on the Hillcrest High School Varsity Soccer team. There is no team for the 8th graders, so they allow the 8th graders to participate on the high school team. According to some of the kids in the crowd, Jay is a stud and he should not be a ball boy. I am impressed with his soccer coach, he has a completely different approach then his football coach from the fall. Every kid has to be a ball boy no manner how good they play. Plus every kid gets to play whether they are losing or not. Jay gets a lot of playing time.
